Mental Illnesses Among Teens
By: Marc Rowen M. Catangay
Mental illnesses are disorders of brain function. They have many causes and result from complex interactions between a person’s genes and their environment. Having a mental illness is not a choice or moral failing. Based on statistics, 1 out of 5 young people suffer from a mental illness. Having a mental disorder should not be any different than experiencing a physical illness. And it doesn’t have to be; you can help make a difference.
One type of mental illnesses is depression. It is a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act. Fortunately, it is also treatable. Depression causes feelings of sadness and/or a loss of interest in activities once enjoyed. It can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems and can decrease a person’s ability to function at work and at home. For example, if they're been bullied harshly or physically hurt them, they tend to become depressed and felt misery in their lives. They’ll seek attention to other people to get rid of it and trying to be happy themselves. If they're been rejected again, there is a cause that commiting suicide will occur.
sometimes, though, it is possible for sadness to deepen, and this may be a sign that you are suffering from a form of depression. Set goals for daily activity. Plan full days of useful activity by making a list of the activities you are going to engage in at different times during the day like listing all of your exercise routine you did on that day. Try to stick to this plan as closely as possible and remember this quote, “Remind yourself that is okay to not to be perfect”
very well said, it is okey to say that you're not okey....
